Shoulder to Shoulder

This course runs on six half-day sessions spread over the academic year.*  The purpose of the course is to support middle leaders in their role with practical advice on topics ranging from raising achievement to managing staff and having difficult conversations.

Typically, those who attend the course are either aspiring middle leaders or those relatively new in post.  However, it is open to any middle leader who would like to reflect on their practice and work with colleagues from across the county.

The course leaders aim to respond to the needs of the participants and the ever-changing demands placed upon schools, looking at ways to manage and prioritise workload both for themselves and those for whom they are responsible and to give solutions to some of the dilemmas faced by middle leaders.

Prior to the course starting each participant is visited in their school to discuss the challenges they face as well as the strengths and opportunities in their school.
